Mosaic

Mosaic—she is a friend of mine who came in and modeled for me. She's done that a few times, and she's long and lean. She did this pose with that dress on, and I just loved the dress and the way she was sitting. I've sold this painting and made another one, and I just keep painting it!

"I love this painting. It's old, and it's one of my first paintings. I've had it in my house and moved it around, and I've looked at it for years now. I just love the colors and the way she looks. She looks so regal. Her skirt looks so classic—it reminds me of my mother. It's beautiful to me — it reminds me of my mum's era."

"I saw this couple as I drove past, standing outside the church — stunning, immaculate in their traditional dress. He was tall, she was short, and I was struck by them. I painted this from memory, though I later found out their outfits were traditional Filipino dress."

Living Off The Breeze

"Below Deck is a young woman who'd been sailing around the world with her partner. She came into my portrait class and sat for me — hard-working, free-spirited, and living off the breeze. A perfect depiction of where she's at in life."

Bat Girl

She's my granddaughter, and I've exhibited her in the Tanks Arts Centre's Machens Beach exhibition. She's young, unpredictable, dark, light, everywhere, naughty, and lots of fun. She modeled for me for this painting.

Rainbow Woman

"Her name's Brenda, a fellow artist — and this really captures her expression: 'couldn't give a rat's arse, just paint me and get it over with!'"

The Dentist

"I painted The Dentist over a couple of sessions. He's a dental student, originally from Pakistan, and just a beautiful guy to paint. I entered another portrait of him into an exhibition and won an award for it — but yes, this one's the dentist!"

Tess and Me

This girl is a ballerina—a dancer and performer. She's absolutely gorgeous. I just wanted to paint her because she looks like she's sitting at the vanity with women standing around behind her, as if she's going to be married soon. A classic, special look with the way they're all gathered together.

Just The Two Of Us

This is a special couple. The woman is a framer and the gentleman is a photographer. They're married go-getters who love art, work in the arts, and make their money from it—a dynamic, beautiful couple.
